I really don't know what to make of this.
When rumours were speculating that Karlie Kloss was going to be given her first cover of Australian Vogue, I was very excited. Mainly due to the fact that Karlie is one of my favourite top models around, and has been ever since she started out.
If you look back at this time last year, Vogue Australia gave us an unforgettable cover featuring Alina Baikova, illustrating what we would be expecting to be popular in Australian fashion that year- colour-blocking. When looking at this cover I don't understand what trend will be popular this year. I know from looking at the shows last year Pastels and pearl are going to be popular, but the image on the cover and the font stating 'Fashion Foward' do not match. The issue before the fashion weeks should provide an indication what to expect, but this is absolutely horrible. I don't see any designer presenting a collection like this, the two items of clothing Karlie is wearing do not match.
Another issue with this cover is if you take away the 'Fashion Forward', and the Vogue Australia heading, it would look like a mens magazine. Putting 'Karlie Kloss turns up the heat', makes the cover look so cheap. Her hair looks like she just got out of the shower or that it looks oily.
The cover as a whole looks like it was rushed, and not thought out properly. If they are using Karlie on their cover, they should have used it too their advantage. I know Karlie is Victoria's Secrets latest it-girl, but it doesn't mean Vogue Australia had to give her this sexualised cover so we know she is a Victoria's Secret Model.
I am really hoping the content of this issue is a lot better, even though this cover really puts me off looking at what this issue has in it.
