Vogue Australia December 2011 : Alice Burdeu by Nick Leary

source: @ilovedlm twitter

Continuing in the jungle theme of the issue, Vogue Australia features Alice Burdeu in a range of safari inspired looks. I absolutely love the artistic direction of the shoot, especially the white illustrations on the images. For Alice, this is a sign to all her fans that she is still giving modelling a shot. in the last few months her career has been a bit quiet, mainly due to the reason that Alice is undertaking a Psychology degree in Melbourne. Hopefully appearing in such a big issue of Australian Vogue will give her career more momentum

Vogue Australia December 2011 : Isabel Lucas by Max Doyle

source: Kevinnn @ tfs via models.com

When I first saw Kristie Clements (the Editor-in-chief of Vogue Australia) tweet that Isabel Lucas was going to be the December cover girl I was disapointed. Mainly due to the fact that Vogue Australia tend to have created some terrible covers in their past (they have had a pretty good year cover wise), and that I am not the biggest Isabel Lucas fan.

To my surprise, the cover actually looks fantastic, and her eyes are saying 'buy me'. My favourite Vogue Australia have been the ones that have little text on them. These covers are much more clearer then the ones cluttered with text.

Vogue Australia has also done a fantastic job to catering to Isabel's style, instead for example dressing her up 'Hollywood glamour' style. My favourite celebrity covers of any magazines are the ones when they cater to the celebrities look, not make them look like something they are not.

Another fantastic thing this cover has is that it was shot in the outdoors. Covers that are shot in studios tend to look boring and repetitive.

They have also done a fantastic job with the 'Vogue' font, the texture looks incredible.

Hopefully this cover is a sign that Vogue Australia will start to be more creative instead of 'being inspired' by their international counterparts. I am so excited to see this editorial, and the rest of this issue.

Model Moment...Georgia Fowler

Georgia Fowler for Jalouse Magazine September 2011

This is one of my favourite rising stars, Georgia Fowler. Georgia is a New Zealand girl from Auckland, and has booked work models would dream of. She is signed with IMG Models in New York, Paris, London, and Milan. In 2010, she confirmed that she had been working with Nicolas Ghesquiere of Balenciaga, the man responsible for launching Miranda Kerr's high-fashion career. Georgia is also a model with brains, she studies a Bachelor of Science degree at university.

Design houses she has worked with include Ladakh, LF Stores, Marnie Skillings, Uscari, Shiseido, Camilla and Marc, Forever New, Peter Alexander, White Sands, Glassons, L'Oreal Paris, D La Repubblica, Servilles, Seafolly, Myer, General Pants, Diane von Furstenburg, Sonia Rykiel, Luela, Ellery, and Macys

Georgia's magazine appearences include British Vogue, Vogue Australia, Harpers Bazaar Australia, Another, Shop Til You Drop, Jalouse, Bullet Magazine, Sunday Magazine, Pilot Magazine, Cosmopolitan Magazine, Oyster Magazine, Teen Vogue, Fashion Quarterly, Simply You Magazine, Madison Magazine Australia, Helmet Magazine, and Remix Magazine

She has also done runway shows for Steven Alan, Marchasa, Douglas Hannant, Zimmermann, Flannel, Morrison, Bec and Bridge, Annah Stretton, Alice McCall, Stolen Girlfriends Club, Anja Gockel, Ellery, Christian Cota, Tuleh, Yoehlee, Nanette Lepore, Lacoste, Generra, Lala Berlin,  Sable & Minx, Billy Reid, and many more

In early 2011, her agent hinted at the possibility of her collaborating with Victoria's Secret, stating ""Georgia is definite VS material! She was very discreet about upcoming work so no word on it, but she definitely has what it takes".

LOVER: One of Australia's Finest

source: loverthelabel.com

For those who are unaware, the design house responsible for these beautiful creations is LOVER. Lover was launched in 2001 by Susien Chong and Nic Briand. The first time I took notice of this label was back in 2006 after their 'About a Girl' collection. The collection was inspired by Kurt Cobain, and named after my favourite Nirvana song. Since then, each of their collections released shows much creativity and innovation.

In the last 11 years their designs have graced the pages of Rolling Stone US, Instyle Magazine, Russh, Grazia, Teen Vogue, Shop Till You Drop, Pages, Harper's Bazaar US, Harper's Bazaar Australia, Madison Magazine, Love Want Magazine, Nylon Magazine, Marie Claire, Yen Magazine, and many more. Their clothes have also been worn by celebs such as Miranda Kerr and Alexa Chung. The above four pieces are from their 'The White Serpent' collection which are available now.

Angelique "Ajak" Deng for W Magazine November 2011 by Sharif Hamza

Model: Angelique "Ajak" Deng (IMG Models)
Source: fashiongonerogue

Angelique (mostly known as Ajak) is one of Australia's top models. Originally born in Sudan, she demonstrates a true 'Rags to Riches' story which is inspiring. Ajak has worked for designers such as Givenchy, Jean Paul Gaultier, Jason Wu, Valentino, Lanvin, Louis Vuitton, Marc Jacobs, Hermès, Zac Posen, Stella McCartney, Thierry Mugler, Topshop Unique, Issa, and Y-3.

She walked an impressive 14 shows during the Spring/Summer 2012 shows which included, Jason Wu, Vivienne Westwood, Christian Dior, Hermès, and Jean Paul Gaultier. Even though some may argue that 14 shows is not a lot, it can be well argued that it is not about the quantity of the shows a model does, but the quality and prestige of the designer. Walking Christian Dior alone is worth a hell of a lot more then walking for 15 unknown designers.

Ajak has also appeared in high-fashion publications such as US Vogue, W Magazine, Vogue Australia, I-D Magazine, French Revue De Modes, Dazed & Confused, Vogue Italia, Love Magazine, and many more.

All I know for certain is that Ajak won't be disappearing anytime soon, It is hard to believe that at 21 years old she has achieved so much.
