Samantha Harris: A Whole Other Side

source: frockwriter

Here we have Samantha Harris in an editorial for Karen Magazine. This is the most raunchy I have seen her, and to be perfectly honest I don't like it. I guess because it is something  different from her, but it is a bit too much. It will be interesting to see whether she will doing fashion week after skipping it the last few years. She will doing the David Jones show in Australia, so I don't know if the timing is right for her to make it to New York on time, or to attend any fittings prior to the shows. I don't see her doing much High Fashion work but I think she will do great in the commercial field. She has even stated in various interviews that her goal is to be in the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show, so I don't think she has high fashion modelling in her sights. What I am sure of thought is that she better go international soon or else the hype surrounding her will die down.

D&G Spring 2011 Campaign

This is such a lovely campaign, it represents everything spring is about. The clothes and styling look fantastic on the amazing cast. The campaign was shot by Mario Testino and stars Keke Lindgard, Julia Turenkova, Jessica Clarke and Mariana Idzkowska.

Who is Australia's Next 'Supermodel'?

Top: Bambi Northwood-Blyth, Abbey Lee Kershaw, Jessica Hart, Stephanie Cherry, Shanina Shaik, Lauren Brown
Bottom: Samantha Harris, Meg Lindsay, Julia Nobis, Juliana Forge, Annaleise Smith, Codie Young

Will Australia ever have another Miranda Kerr or Gemma Ward, well nobody knows, but if we ever do it would be out of this dozen of girls. 2005 saw an invasion of Australians on the modelling circuit. Alexander Agoston, Alyssa Sutherland, Elyse Taylor, Miranda Kerr, Pania Rose, Nicole Trunfio, Gemma Ward, Jessica Gomes, Shanay Hall and Talluah Morton were all doing wonderful things. I would not consider this group very strong, but their was a lot of talent there. It is now 2011, and we have a new breed of models. I am going to review the potential of each of the 12 girls listed in order to help bring a better understanding of who is our next 'Supermodel'

Bambi Northwood-Blyth: She is short, but has a powerful look. In her first season she booked major runway shows for Chanel and Balenciaga. I don't think she will go very far unfortunately, even though she is one of my favourites.

Abbey-Lee Kershaw: There is nothing to say about this girl, she is a true star

Jessica Hart: Last season she proved that she is more then a sports illustrated girl by doing numerous shows for London fashion week. She has worked for the Victorias Secret catalogue, but the only way she will become a top model is by attempting to dominate the swimwear and lingerie field

Stephanie Cherry: I am not a fan of her, she looks like a normal girl. She is pretty, but thats it

Shanina Shaik: this Make Me A Supermodel Alumni has proved she can work in the harsh US Market. She has booked big commercial work with iconic American brands such as Macys, Ann Taylor, and Aeropostale. I can see her dominating the worlds commercial market, but not high fashion, she looks too exotic. I would not be surprised If she worked for Victorias Secret sometime in the future. Its unbelievable to think that she is only 19

Lauren Brown: She has proved that she can book runway work, but she struggles to book campaigns. I do not think she can become a supermodel

Samantha Harris: I think she could be a very good commercial top model. I can't see her on the runways of Paris, Milan and New York, but I can see her on the Victorias Secret Runway. She is taking too long to go international, soon the buzz in which surrounds her is going to fade

Meg Lindsay: I see a lot of potential in her. I think it is time she trys the international circuit. She is signed with NEXT, I really hope they can use her well. Watch out, soon this girl is going to be everywhere

Julia Nobis: She has proved herself as a fantastic runway model, now I want her to embrace her commercial side

Juliana Forge: I can see her having a similar career to Miranda Kerr. Juliana has already attended castings for Victorias Secret, so she has caught their eye.

Annaleise Smith: She has had an impressive debut season, I just want her to try book campaigns and catalogue work so she can prove that she is not only a runway model

Codie Young: She is the industries next couture runway star

My favourite image of the day is an image from an editorial from Harpers Bazaar Australia featuring Alexandra Agoston. The title of this editorial was 'Where The Wild Things Are', and it is definitely my favourite editorial in which I have seen from an Australian magazine. Alexandra has starred in campaigns for Nicola Finetti, Moschino 'Toujours Glamour Fragrance, Emporio Armani Diamonds Fragrance, and Jean Paul Gautier. She has also walked for brands such as Christian Dior, Emporio Armani, Giorgio Armani, John Galliano, Alexander Wang, Erdem, Armani Prive, Christian Lacroix, Elie Saab, Proenza Schouler, Jean Paul Gautier and Monique L'huillier. She is signed with Chic Model Management in Sydney as well as NEXT model Management in New York, Milan and Paris.

source: scans by Ziegfeld Girl at the fashion spot

Samantha Harris is my favourite Australian model at the moment. She is of Indigenous Australian decent, which are illustrated in her distinctive look. At 20, she has an Australian Vogue cover, and has also been the face of some of Australia's most iconic brands. Her advisements to date include David Jones, Seafolly, Gorman, Rachel Gilbert, Wittner Shoes, RMK shoes, Topshop, Forever New, Sportsgirl, Jeans West, and Antipodium. She has also appeared in magazines such as Vogue Australia, Harpers Bazaar Australia, Harpers Bazaar Singapore, Culture Magazine, Frankie Magazine, Womens Day, GQ Magazine Australia, German Glamour, Who Magazine, Madison Magazine, Marie Claire Australia, and Cosmopolitan Australia. Last year she became the first Indigenous Australian to cover Vogue Australia. She is also passionate about her charity work, as she has appeared in a number of television commercials campaigning to bring equality for the Indigenous Australians. Samantha is signed with Chic Model Management and NEXT Model Management, she has also expressed her desires to work for Victorias Secret.
